The melodies of rhythm
What happens when two undisputed masters of two great classical music traditions – one oral, the other written – meet ? A joust ? Cross-fertilization ? The virtuoso Indian percussionist Manjunath B.C has taken the Konnakol, a sophisticated vocal percussion technique based on Carnatic tradition, to an unmatched level of mastery. Florent Jodelet is a French percussionist with a rich background, who glides effortlessly across stylistic and aesthetic boundaries. They will play music created for the festival by Thierry de Mey and Jean-Pierre Drouet, as well as works composed by themselves and Mulhy, Zappa, Xenakis and Aperghis. We can look forward to a rich musical conversation.
