Being Persian today no longer means being from a faraway land. Transcending their richly varied individual paths, these five musicians explore art and popular music, mingled with the exhilaration of Saadi’s ghazals, Sheikh Baha'i’s poems and the romantics of the Qajar period. The tar, qanun, voice, Viola da gamba and percussion instruments are united in resonance with nineteenth-century Persian poetry and original compositions. ‘United’ and ‘original’, in keeping with the meaning of the Persian word ‘atine’.
